FANKLE

A circle of confusion

4th July, 2011

Oh, it’s such a perfect day
I’m glad I spent it with you
Oh, such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging on
You just keep me hanging on

Swamp Mallow a.k.a Hibiscus

Bought in March as flower pots with stumps in them. Finally started growing about May. Had big growth spurt this last month and finally bloomed this week. Stunning colour. A native Texas plant, it does well in marshy conditions.

Glorias, Bishop Arts, Dallas, TX

The new Glorias is really nice. Large outdoor areas, same good food. Here is the Glorias Super Sampler. From Top left: fried plantain, refried black beans, brown rice, tamale in banana leaf, papusa, fried yucca, sour cream and some Argentinian cole slaw churra something :) Git u sum.

Glorias $6 Meltdown

Goddamn! Frozen margarita & sangria swirl with lashings of extra tequila.

Beef Fajitas, Glorias, Davis St., Dallas, TX

This was the last night at their old location. They are moving about three blocks down the road to an old fire-station. If I was to be limited to one dish for the rest of my life it would be a close run between fajitas and Thai something. Or Vietnamese – or Indian.

Lee Harvey Oswald Sat Here

This is the seat in The Texas Theatre where Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested on the day of Kennedy’s assassination. It’s on Jefferson a couple of miles from our house. We have a lot of historic sites in our neighbourhood.

Super Moon Over Downtown Dallas

I should have been closer. I should have used a longer lens, but I don’t have one – I apparently sold my 200mm.

March 19, 2011

First day where we had the AC on. Working in the yard. Made a resolution to wear hat and sun-screen all the time. Got some freckles I need the dermo to look at. Scotsmen made for grey skies and rain.

Bastille Day 2010

Last July in our neighborhood. Great turn out for what was, I think, the first. Sometime we think Bishop Arts is becoming like a theme park. People come to wander about and look all touristy. Parking is getting worse and worse, so I suppose we’ll use our bikes more and more.

More Pasta!

Actually seeing how the EX-1 performed in low light. Pretty good with some help from Lightroom, but I would probably do that with any camera.

Burning an old pallet in the back yard, eating turkey chilli.
